Richard served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve, and retired from the Civil Engineer Corps after 22 years of commendable service. He joined The Adams Companies in 1997 as Director of Real Estate Development. In 2000, the company was named to Virginia Business Magazine's Fantastic 50 (fastest growing companies in Virginia). In 2001, the company received the Vanguard Award (the highest overall growth of a privately held company). Richard was appointed Principal Broker of Adams-Nelson & Associates, Inc. in 2006. He holds a degree in architecture from the University of Virginia with a concentration in Urban and Environmental Planning.

RICHARD’S SUCCESS STORIES

Richard, as tenant representative, recently completed a negotiated build to suit warehouse deal for a 351,000 SF building. Tenant not yet disclosed.

Richard, as local cooperating broker with CBRE Atlanta, facilitated the sale of the former GE Lamp plant in Winchester, Virginia to Newell-Rubbermaid. The property is 54 acres with manufacturing and warehousing facilities of over 450,000 SF.

Richard, working as the Landlord representative, brokered the leasing of 131,500 SF of warehousing and distribution to Packaging Corporation of America in two facilities under different ownerships.

Richard coordinated and managed the historic tax credit renovation of a multi-family housing complex in Old Town Winchester encompassing 315 and 317 S. Loudoun Street creating seven high-end residential dwelling units.

Richard, as selling agent, brokered the sale of approximately 3.10 acres to Echostar Broadcasting (Dish Network) for its satellite uplink site in Winchester, Virginia.
